Orewa East

Client: Orewa Land Limited.

Objective: To provide urban design advice in support of planning provisions to accommodate growth in multi level apartments.

What we did: Provided evidence at Council hearing which gained favour with commissioners, then at the Environment Court due to an appeal by residents and rate payers group.

Outcome: Opportunity for growth to occur in a different form was not seen favourably by the Environment Court.
Variation 101 to the Rodney District Plan proposed higher density development along the Hibiscus Coast Highway in Orewa in building forms up to 7 storeys, the alternative proposed was up to 12 storeys with a 3 storey base development.
